This is one of those old DIY tricks that your grandmother would vouch far. You simply need to get rosemary sprigs and boil them in water. Once the solution is ready, mix that in a bucket of warm water and give your dog a nice wash. Regular such dips and washes ensure that the problem is solved in a painless and effective manner.

2. Lavender Oil Rub

It is always a good idea to rub some diluted lavender essential oil on your dog’s tail and neck in time to avoid flea infestation. The oil doesn’t smell so bad either, so your dog wouldn’t mind you doing this on a regular basis. Lavender oil also has the bonus effect of being calming for your dog. 3. Cedar Oil Collar

Simply take your dog’s collar and apply a few drops of cedar oil to it. Some people prefer to use diluted versions if the smell is too strong; in that case, you can mix 2-3 spoons of water to a few drops of cedar oil. Make sure your dog wears this collar at all times, and that you keep reapplying the cedar oil mixture once every week to avoid flea infestation from getting worse. 4. Lemon Water Combing

An easy way to get rid of the nastier and more stubborn flea infestations is to do lemon combing, which by the way, works wonders on shorthaired breeds. Simply boil a few lemons in water, and then let it cool down. After that, use a comb-like sponge or a comb directly to dip in the mixture and rub it liberally over your dog. The fleas will reduce in no time.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar Spray

Mix 1 portion of apple cider vinegar with 2 portions of water and put it in a spray bottle. Use this spray lavishly on your dog’s coat once every week to avoid fleas.

    Dawn dish soap also works great on fleas. Kills them on contact and safe for your pet just add a little to their bath instead of shampoo and fleas die on contact instantly. Very inexpensive as well which is nice.
